What We Learned
1. The necklace incident was scary. We didn’t have emergency procedures. We fumbled through it. No one was hurt, but we were unprepared. Now procedures are posted.
2. The training session helped. We spent one hour training all staff on emergency procedures. They know what to do. Confidence increased.
3. The documentation saved us. After the incident, we documented everything. When the patient later claimed injury, we had records. Case dismissed.
4. The emergency kit was essential. We stocked: first aid kit, fire extinguisher, emergency blankets. Haven’t needed most items, but they’re there.
5. The post-incident review was preventive. After every incident (even minor), we review what happened. Protocol updates prevent recurrence.
For LED therapy clinics, emergency preparedness is essential. Create procedures, train staff, document incidents, and review regularly. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.
