The Protocol Development Process
Step 1: Research
Published clinical studies
Manufacturer recommendations
Professional guidelines
Expert consultations
Step 2: Test
Try protocols on yourself
Get feedback from willing patients
Track results
Step 3: Refine
Adjust based on results
Document what works
Create written protocols
Our Condition-Specific Protocols
Skin Rejuvenation:
Wavelengths: 630nm + 660nm (red)
Power density: 40-50 mW/cm²
Distance: 6-12 inches
Duration: 15-20 minutes
Frequency: 2-3x per week
Treatment course: 8-12 sessions
Expected results: 4-8 weeks
Acne Treatment:
Wavelengths: 415nm (blue) + 630nm (red)
Blue: 15 minutes, kills bacteria
Red: 10 minutes, reduces inflammation
Power density: 30-40 mW/cm²
Frequency: 2x per week
Treatment course: 10-15 sessions
Pain Management:
Wavelengths: 850nm (NIR) + 810nm
Power density: 50-100 mW/cm²
Distance: 6-12 inches
Duration: 20-30 minutes
Frequency: 3-5x per week initially
Treatment course: 6-8 sessions
Muscle Recovery:
Wavelengths: 850nm (NIR)
Power density: 50-80 mW/cm²
Distance: 6-12 inches
Duration: 15-20 minutes
Timing: Within 2 hours post-exercise
Frequency: After each workout
Hair Growth:
Wavelengths: 630nm + 660nm
Power density: 30-40 mW/cm²
Distance: 0.5-1 inch (directly on scalp)
Duration: 20-25 minutes
Frequency: Every other day
Treatment course: 6+ months

What We Learned
1. The “one size fits all” approach didn’t work. Patients with different conditions got the same treatment. Results were inconsistent. Condition-specific protocols improved outcomes.
2. The research guided us. Clinical studies gave us starting points. We adjusted based on our patient population and observed results.
3. The documentation helped training. New staff learned protocols from written documents. Consistent treatment = consistent results.
4. The protocol adjustments were gradual. We didn’t change everything at once. We adjusted one variable at a time and tracked results.
5. The patient education improved compliance. When we explained the protocol, patients understood why they needed multiple sessions. Compliance increased.
For LED therapy providers, condition-specific protocols improve results. Research, test, document, and refine. Patients get better outcomes when treatment is tailored to their condition.
